Journals

Journal # 1 This week although I was not able to meet with Congressman McCaul I interviewed in his office. This was one of my first interviews ever and it was a very rewarding experience. I am looking forward to actually working for my mentor and gaining political experience.

Journal # 2 This week was the first week that I went to my mentors office. However although I was officially mentoring for my first day I was not able to perform many tasks because I was new.

Journal # 3 This week was the first in whichI performed regular work as an intern. I performed routine work such as filing constituent cases and clipping out newspaper articles.

Journal # 4 This week although my mentorship was canceled I did a lot of research on the government shutdown and its impacts.

Journal # 5 This week, although I was not able to meet with my mentor, I was able to do a significant amount of research on the government shutdown and its effects. I focused this week on specifically researching the impact of the shutdown on furloughed government workers.

Journal # 6 This week at my mentorship we clipped out newspaper articles concerning the congressman. This gave me a much deeper insight into the relationship between the congressman and his constituents.

Journal # 7 This week at my mentorship we filed constituent cases and entered data concerning constituents into a spreadsheet. It was was interesting work that allowed us to gain more experience in the office setting.
