Journal # 1
This week although I was not able to meet with Congressman McCaul I interviewed in his office. This was one of my first interviews ever and it was a very rewarding experience. I am looking forward to actually working for my mentor and gaining political experience.
Journal # 2
This week was the first week that I went to my mentors office. However although I was officially mentoring for my first day I was not able to perform many tasks because I was new.
Journal # 3
This week was the first in whichI performed regular work as an intern. I performed routine work such as filing constituent cases and clipping out newspaper articles.
Journal # 4
This week although my mentorship was canceled I did a lot of research on the government shutdown and its impacts.
Journal # 5
This week, although I was not able to meet with my mentor, I was able to do a significant amount of research on the government shutdown and its effects. I focused this week on specifically researching the impact of the shutdown on furloughed government workers.
Journal # 6
This week at my mentorship we clipped out newspaper articles concerning the congressman. This gave me a much deeper insight into the relationship between the congressman and his constituents.
Journal # 7
This week at my mentorship we filed constituent cases and entered data concerning constituents into a spreadsheet. It was was interesting work that allowed us to gain more experience in the office setting.
